PRESIDENT KENNEDY and Chancellor Gorbach of Austria conferred
this afternoon on a number of matters of mutual interest.
In the course of their conversation
the Chancellor and Foreign Minister Kreisky clarified the views of the
Austrian Government with regard to certain economic problems, including
the problem of Austrian participation in European economic integration.
The President expressed his recognition of the special situation of Austria
and there was mutual agreement on the need for solutions that would take
this into account. The President and the Chancellor reaffirmed the traditional
friendship of their two countries.
